This blog started from a simple observation: most people trying to make extra money or understand what's happening in the economy end up drowning in content that's either too theoretical or too polished to be true. Everyone's selling a dream, but not many are willing to talk about what actually happens when things don't go as planned.
By Sidebars covers two things that might look different on the surface but actually work together: making money on the side, and understanding the bigger picture behind why things work the way they do. One is practical, the other is analytical, but both come from the same place: wanting to make sense of money, work, and the world around us without the usual sugarcoating.
You'll find two main categories here:
- Side Hustle, freelance tips, platform reviews, and real stories from personal experience, not just recycled theory. This is where I break down whether an opportunity is genuinely worth your time or just another trend riding on hype. If something didn't work for me, I'll say so, along with the reasons why, so you don't have to learn it the hard way yourself.
- Insight, deeper reads on economics, digital trends, workforce issues, and viral phenomena, looked at from a more objective angle. This is less about "how to make money" and more about understanding the patterns behind why people behave the way they do, why certain trends rise and fall, and why some things that look like progress turn out to be repeating old mistakes.
I believe honest content is worth more than content that looks perfect. So if you come across a post that says "this failed" or "this isn't worth it," it's not pessimism, it's an attempt to give you a realistic picture before you try it yourself. I'd rather be useful than impressive.
This blog isn't built for virality or chasing numbers. It's a space to think out loud, share what I've learned (and what I got wrong), and hopefully help you make slightly better decisions, whether that's about work, money, or just making sense of what's happening around you.
